Worldwide Peace Marker Project

I believe that the cultural landscape of the 21st century is being revised under the rigors of the present state of the human condition and by the condition of the Earth's environment.

Worldwide Peace Marker Project is a work of art presented as a "Global Peace Offering" with the intention of sparking a relevant dialog that can revise our expectations regarding the human conception of world peace.

With this global collaborative work of art, an aesthetic model is emerging where peace is viewed as an activity between our species and the world so that our conception of war can be revised to be as not an event between ourselves, but between us humans and anything that threatens the integrity of the planet in its capabilities to sustain life for all of Earth's creatures.

Worldwide Peace Marker Project may, therefore, be thought of as our first global act of peace for us and the planet to create a true gift to the future of our children.

ABOUT THE WORLDWIDE PEACE MARKER PROJECT

The Worldwide Peace Marker Project (or WPMP for short) is a work of art. You may think of it as a collaborative installation developed by Tiité and authored by 198 other artists who participate as Artists ambassadors representing 198 separate nations.

The basic idea behind the project, is to create "a global peace offering." It is worth noting that, every previous culture and civilization has made offerings of one kind or another but never before as a single species in an effort to reconcile humanity with itself and with the world.

The motivation for the project also stems from the cultural need by human civilization to experience examples of the scale and implications associated with the idea of "globality" in its fullest sense.

The offering itself, is the installation of 198 markers in as many nations to create a permanent model of art at a global scale, but also, the creation of 198 points of peace which establishes not only the foundations of a new notion regarding world peace at a "global" level of consciousness, but, also the start of a new dialog about human global consciousness embracing a new relationship regarding peace with the planet itself.

Why would one consider this effort to be an important contribution?

The short answer is that, if we as a species fail to extend our perception of the world from a local perspective to a global perspective, chances are that we will not understand the implications of our activity on the the world in time to react intelligently to the survival challenges involved. WPMP contributes to make that global perception possible.

WPMP is clearly a complex work of art which goes beyond the conventional boundaries of art. It does that, because the project explores a relationship between art and life at a scale that has never been explored before, but that art has to explore now, if art it is to be of any service to civilization.

Because of its global collaborative scope, WPMP can be seen as an attempt to integrate human creativity into a new dialog about ourselves as a species and by extension about our relationship with the Earth

Structurally as art, WPMP is a global installation informed by a direction in art called Data A art which explores an extended relationship between human art and nature's creativity in a mutual concern for life on earth.

General Objective:

Worldwide Peace Marker Project has Four (4) principal objectives.

  1. An artistic objective, to create the first truly global work of art in the history of humanity. That milestone expands the human spatial conception of "local" as in the immediate home environment to a global conception of local as in the whole of Earth as the home environment. The survival implications of this upgrade to the future of life on Earth are staggering and worth exploring.

  2. A Cultural objective, to contribute a credible example of artists from every nation in the world demonstrating that humanity that can work collaboratively and globally as a single species. The exercise may prove invaluable to inform other initiatives addressing some of the critical challenges we face as a species in the 21st century.

  3. A Humanitarian objective, to establish a minimal full scale working model of world peace that is presented to the world as "a Global Peace Offering" expressed by the first interactive 198 points of peace ever to take residence in our planet and in our minds.

  4. A reconciliatory objective, the project being realized in between the aesthetic of human creativity and the  aesthetic of life in the natural world, provides a way to conceive or visualize that a reconciliation between human nature and Nature outside of the human domain is not only possible but within our grasp.

The project’s headquarters is located at 1133 Del Prado Blvd. #4, Cape Coral, Florida, U.S.A.
