Okra Heirloom

An heirloom is the status given to a valuable possession that is passed down the family in succeeding generations.

I have created a number of heirlooms this year with the idea to rekindle the joy of the traditional value of unique objects for their rarity, their beauty and their meaning within a personal social and historical context.

These heirlooms are a commemorative to a landmark accomplishment that eluded the arts in the 20th century namely, the reconciliation between art and life. These heirlooms are truly remarkable by the fact that, in themselves, they are proof that art and life are indeed reconciled and that out of that reconciliation a new relationship between humanity and Nature has been born as made abundantly clear by the Okra project in the previous page.

In addition, these heirlooms for those of us who live in Southwest Florida have the added incentive that the global origin of such a new relationship between humanity and Nature took place right here in our soil just as did the cultivation of the Okra seeds that are the centerpiece of the heirloom.

In addition, as if it wasn't enough, the origins of the concept of an heirloom itself have a connection to the cultivation of a specific vegetable or fruit that has an unusual flavor, coloration or characteristic that makes it special as a cultivar and therefore an heirloom.

Dear friends, I will only make a limited number of these exceptional pieces during this holiday season and will honor your  request until December 16, 2009. In order to keep it fair purchases are limited to two (2) pair per family and they are sold on the first come first served basis.

The heirloom earrings are sterling silver with real fresh water pearls. They come in an autographed box with a signed card and a description of the Okra heirloom.

Email your request to tiiteb@gmail.com . Please include a phone number, the style (A), (B), (C) that you desire and I will contact you to arrange delivery.
