Lincoln
Boulevard Model page 2

The following images where taken by Brent Scheneman on
April 6,2007. They reveal the measurable contrast between a neighborhood
that could only afford to show its contempt for the abandon bestowed to
its inhabitants by the society of the time. The improvement is
miraculous and the social stress is quite lessened even though the
neighborhood still shoulders with pride the challenges and the struggle of
the poor working class. |

During my visit to Lincoln Blvd. I ran into Sonia Johnson
who was born right there and who remembers the crazy artist and the
reverend Suarez picking up all that trash and planting trees with the
kids. Speaking about those skinny saplings we planted, I will close this
page with an image of one of the stately Mahogany trees that grace the
boulevard and an image of one other resident, a cardinal perched on a
branch. |

Lincoln Boulevard Model is just that, a model, what it
models however is a new experience for art at the gateway of the 21st
century. It models an art that becomes a vehicle for the transformation
that civilization must undergo if it is to survive. And it models an art
that reconciles the nature of the human being with the nature of the
world.
The encouraging thing about Lincoln Boulevard Model, is that it can be
replicated in thousands of cities around the world. There was no money
exchanged for this project, it happened because the reverend Suarez and I
decided that the project needed to be done. All of the materials needed
came to us from many sources just as they were needed, somehow people knew
that something special was happening and thanks to them it did. |
