Data A art is a fresh new step towards the realization of an alternative direction for the human species.

While one can be persuaded, by one or another view concerning the interpretation of our actual current standing of civilization and the current status of the world's environment, one cannot evade the perception that conditions are less than acceptable and that try as we do, somehow we end up repeating the same mistakes and making the problems worst.

We have heard for years and years that more of the same would not do but little or none is said about what to do instead. Data A art is about exploring the dialog concerning a transition from more of the same to a new cultural strategy.

The following work eliminates the gap between art and life creating instead a partnership between the artist and nature, for a time, the two work as one towards an outcome that is favorable to both.

At the end, the work reveals a relationship that is new to the planet and to the human experience. It reveals a hint of that cultural strategy that can replace the more of the same culture, which we know, can no longer sustain us or the world.

Some 46 thousand years ago we began to wear stringed sea shells and other unique natural objects as symbols of identity and perhaps as statements of our relationship with a world whose mysteries we had just begun to interpret.

The "Data Beads" that resulted from this brief partnership with nature, come at a time when our interpretation of the world is enlightened but insufficient, as our interpretation is only true to human nature. The rest of the world was left out as mere stuff to suit our needs.

We have not quite learned to get along with our own kind and at best, marginally with a few other species. Nature's interpretation of life, however, has managed the interaction of several million species all of whom operate as extensions of one another.

A new cultural strategy for our kind can arise from a mutual partnership with nature, where our knowledge and nature's experience at life can merge to create a new world. The Data Beads made from the partnership in this work, are a symbol that represents the potential of the new partnership and the mutual benefit to be gained.
